Chevy today announced that it will unveil the 2023 Corvette Z06 on Tuesday, October 26, at 12 p.m. EDT (16:00 GMT). Chevy.com/Z06 will host the presentation. After the presentation, there will be a panel discussion where people with unique perspectives will discuss how the Z06 will make supercars all around the globe “pay attention.” Chevy, is that a threat?
The Z06’s debut date was first revealed by Chevy late last month. They also released a teaser image that showed the car’s entire exterior. This image showed a Corvette with an aggressive exterior design, including a new front fascia and rear quarter panels. Although we haven’t seen the Z06’s rear end, numerous spy photos have shown a sporty design with quad exhaust pipes. Chevy’s teaser does not include the big wing that was seen on many test vehicles.
The Corvette’s styling will be reworked to allow it to wear the Z06 badge. But the most exciting part of the car is the powertrain. Rumours continue to suggest that the 5.5-liter flat-plane crankshaft V8 will be used with dual overhead camshafts. The engine will be paired with a Tremec-sourced transmission while producing 617 horsepower (460kilowatts). It is the same engine as the C8.R race car and should dramatically increase its power output.
Chevy has not yet specified when the new Z06 would be available at dealers, but it will be sold in 2023 as a model. These details will be available later in the fall. However, any number of problems could cause delays to the company’s rollout schedule. The initial C8 production was delayed several times. While the Z06 will be priced higher than the Corvette C8, it will still be a supercar in terms of performance. The 2019 Z06 was priced at just $80,000
