The Cadillac CT6 was unveiled at the New York Auto Show in April. Now, a cherry-red example has been seen in China. It is most likely that the company was performing tests to refine the luxury sedan for local markets. The interior was light beige with lots of leather and wood trim. It also featured the standard eight speed automatic transmission.
We don’t know the identity of the engine under the hood, but Cadillac will offer the CT6 with a 265-bhp turbo-four 2.0 liter motor, a mid-range V6-liter naturally aspirated motor with 335 horsepower, and a V6 3.0-liter twin turbine that produces 400 bhp (298kW) An optional active-on demand all-wheel drive system will be available at an additional cost.
A plug in hybrid version will be available. It will feature a 2.0-liter four cylinder turbo and dual electric motors that produce a combined output 335 bhp & 432 lbft. Thanks to a 18.4 kWh lithium-ion battery, the hybridized CT6 promises to offer double the fuel efficiency of the conventionally-powered versions and should offer a minor electric range as well.
The local Shanghai-GM venture will manufacture the Chinese model, while the Detroit-Hamtramck will build the US-spec version. Production will begin by the end 2015, and sales will start in early 2016.
