Citroen My Ami Cargo debuts as a tiny commercial EV with 8 HP

Let’s just say that it was not designed to transport heavy items with such power.

A diesel engine is the typical European small commercial vehicle. Models such as the Volkswagen Caddy or Renault Kangoo are best suited to this segment. Citroen is in the same class as its Berlingo but will offer a completely different LCV.

Meet the cute My Ami Cargo. It is a commercial version, as the name suggests, of the Ami electric car. Technically, it’s not a full-fledged car as this is actually a quadricycle. It weighs in at 425 kg (937 pounds), and does not include the battery pack. The tiny Ami uses a 5.5-kWh Lithium-Ion battery to provide power to its electric motor, which produces eight horsepower (six megawatts). It has 8 horsepower or 1 less than the original. 2CV.

This cute EV is easy to maneuver in crowded cities. It measures 2.41 meters (95inches) long, 1.39m (55inches) wide, 1.52m (60inches) high, and has a turning circle that is just 7.2 meters. The My Ami Cargo was designed to transport small, lightweight packages for last-mile delivery. The maximum payload capacity is 140 kg (309 pounds), and the storage space can hold up to 265 liters. The total load capacity is 400 liters, as evidenced by the storage spaces within the cabin.

The main difference between regular Ami and commercial derivatives is that there is no passenger seat. This effectively turns the cargo model into one-seater. Citroen replaced it with a seven-part polypropylene modular that can carry small items. A two-way adjustable floor was installed to enhance the versatility of the My Ami Cargo. A modular shelf and a vertical partitioner are also included in the quadricycle between the driver’s and cargo area.

It takes three hours for the battery to be fully charged from a regular outlet. In return, you get 47 mi (75 km) of range which Citroen claims is ideal for everyday use in most urban areas.

After taking into account the eco-friendly incentive, the My Ami Cargo’s starting price is EUR6,490 (€5,600 at home in France). The regular Ami will soon be available in the United States. However, you won’t have the option to purchase one because Stellantis will only offer it through its Free2Move car sharing and rental service.
