Unfortunately, Electric Dreams will not be able to power it.
Supercars were a hot commodity in the late ’80s/early ’90s. We have legends like the Porsche 959 and Ferrari F40. Cizeta and Vector were two of the startups that tried to enter this market.
Cizeta survived, although Vector has long since passed away. Cizeta’s last car was the V16T. It was among the most extreme cars of its time. It had a 16-cylinder engine with 64 valves and over 500 horsepower (373kilowatts). There were also four pop-up headlights. Cizeta produced only 12 of these V16Ts, with one of them landing in the hands the Sultan of Brunei.
A company wants to revive the supercar. It claims it is still waiting on Marcello Gandini’s approval before proceeding. The EMA Group GmbH is owned by Antonio Mandelli, an Italian-based German. Although there is an official website, it doesn’t contain much information. It only states that “The dream is back”.
Mandelli also plans to revive the V16T with the original 6.0-liter V16 motor. The group wants to add four turbochargers. If the car is approved by its original designer, it will likely go faster than the original model. Factory figures show a 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h), time of 4.3 seconds, and a top speed at 204 mph (392 km/h). These are some impressive numbers for 1991. However, it is now outclassed by an entry-level Lamborghini Huracan Evo.
According to the company, the car is under constant development. The carbon fiber monocoque body is made. There are also test mules. The engine was supplied by “a local Formula 1 supplier” and is paired with a manual five-speed transmission.
Despite this, it appears that Giorgio Moroder, a music producer and Euro Disco pioneer, is not involved in the new project. Moroder was one the original partners of the company’s name in 1988.
