Daimler boss Dieter Zetzsche announced that Mercedes-Benz will not be using the AMG badge in Aston Martin’s involvement.
In the next few years, we will see the first results of the collaboration between Aston Martin & AMG. However, don’t be surprised to see AMG badges on these Astons. Dieter Zetsche claims that the tie-up between the two companies will be “subtle” as “customers will not know about it without our making too much of it.” We are satisfied with that. We believe that the “AMG” lettering will remain on the engine cover.
Daimler chief Dieter Zetsche said that Mercedes-Benz would not be involved with Aston Martin’s product development as the collaboration will only mean the German marque will “share electrical components and engines”. Zetsche did not rule out the possibility of expanding that collaboration, which would allow Aston Martin to take advantage of Mercedes-Benz’s alloy chassis architecture.
The highlight of the tie-up, as I recall, will be a new V8 engine which will deliver high performance and fuel efficiency for future Aston Martin models. Daimler will be given a five percent share in Aston Martin.
