It was a fitting tribute to the legend of hip-hop.
Earl Simmons, better known as DMX, recently died from complications after a heart attack. The funeral procession to honor one of the most prominent rappers was special because he was a shining star in hip-hop.
A monster truck was accompanied by a group of motorcycles for DMX’s final ride. The Ford F-250 was the hearse of choice, fully equipped with all the Monster Truck accessories. The truck featured big tires and axles, as well as the Ruff Ryders logo.
His ruby-red coffin was positioned in the pickup’s bed on the way to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Thanks to BETNetworks, fans around the globe were able to view the procession via a live stream.
Simmons’ career in hip-hop began in 1990. He was quickly recognized for his expressive style and high-spirited personality. Although his style was unconventional, Simmons’ fans loved his unique approach. He is still the only rapper to see his first five albums reach the top, and the only artist to achieve two platinum records in one year.
Although the ceremony was attended by only close friends and families, it was still quite impressive to see the motorcade of thousands of motorcycles en route to the hip-hop legend’s final resting place. DMX will be remembered for his kindness and compassion, along with his successes as an actor and rapper.
