These races are not lost by the Demon, but the NSX does not lose them all.
The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon continues the muscle car formula of a large engine in a small coupe. It has the ability to accelerate through quarter-miles faster than any other vehicle on the road. The Acura is a modern example of how to create a supercar. It combines a twin-turbo V6 with three electric motors and lots of electronics to make it work. DragTimes now takes the two machines to an abandoned runway in desert to test their performance.
The Demon starts the second run by jumping the start. He then has some fun doing a smokey burnout down the strip. The NSX covers the quarter-mile in 11.1 seconds, at 125.6 miles an hour.
The Demon can run the quarter under ideal conditions in nine seconds. This is why you might think it will be able to beat the NSX in these races. But that is not the case. The Demon can struggle to keep up with the powerful powerplant, even when using the Nitto drag-radial tires. The Acura wins the race against the Dodge, even though it starts from a standing position.
Three races are also held by the Challenger and NSX from a roll. These runs allow Dodge to show off its acceleration capabilities. Although the Acura does a good job keeping up with the pace, the Acura can’t beat the muscle car.
This video is a 2017 NSX. It doesn’t have the upgrades to the 2019 model year. These parts won’t make the coupe faster in the quarter mile. New Continental SportContact 6 tires, which are supposedly two seconds faster than the old ones, were part of the improvements. The suspension is also 26 percent stiffer in the front and 19 percent stiffer at the rear. Standard equipment now includes four-way power adjustable seat, satellite navigation, aluminum pedals and proximity sensors in front and back.
