Dodge’s future in electrification has been also defined.
In May, Dodge promised to reinvent muscle cars in the electric era. This was a hint at the automaker’s push for electrification. Dodge has made it clear since then that electrification will be the future for muscle cars.
Now, fast forward to July. Dodge teases a new electric muscle car in advance of its 2024 launch. This gives us a glimpse at what’s ahead for the automaker. Importantly, Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis understands that electrification will not be an easy transition, so a timeline has been set Automotive News reports.
According to the report Dodge will present its electrification plans during the fourth quarter. The company is also planning to launch a hybrid model with a plug-in engine in 2022. More importantly, it will be launching an electric concept car, which should serve as a precursor for the battery-electric muscle car due to debut after approximately two years.
The concept should give a glimpse of what to expect, which is very important considering that the concept of an electric muscle car is still a new concept and is not widely accepted by fans.
Kuniskis stated that Dodge wants to attract a new type of customer with its electric cars, and they will keep the ones they currently have.
“That’s very important for us. That’s why we want our concept car to be out next year to show people what we’re doing. We want people to understand that when things are put into an electrified environment we will explain it to them first: Dodge muscle car. Kuniskis said that the car also has electrification which makes it even better.”
