Stellantis also makes the Town & Country, Chrysler 200 and Jeep Patriot zombie cars.
We were shocked to discover that Toyota managed to sell an FJ Cruiser in the United States last year. We’re referring to Dodge and some of its models that were discontinued many moons ago. The Viper is back and four more were sold in 2021. Two of them were reported by Stellantis when they published the Q1 sales charts. However, we were surprised to learn that two more were sold in Q4.
Ironically, Viper sales are flat year-over-year as Dodge sold four in 2020. Given that production at Detroit’s Conner Avenue Assembly Plant ended in August 2017, we are curious how many Vipers remain in stock. Since the beginning, we have been covering the supercar’s inexorable refusal to die. You can be sure that we will continue to monitor the sales charts for 2022 every quarter.
Now for something a lot more mundane. Last year’s Dart sales were 10 in total, which is 43 percent more than 2020. The Viper is still the most popular compact sedan in America, and half of the Darts were sold within the last quarter. The last Dodge model was built in September 2016 at the Belvidere Assembly Plant, Illinois. Seven units were sold in 2020, and 15 more in the previous year.
Stellantis 2021 sales report also includes the mechanically related Chrysler 200, which is 15 units more than last year. This represents 67 percent increase in sales. The latest sales chart still shows the econobox, despite the fact that production at Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Michigan has ended in December 2016. The Town & Country sold four units last year, despite having left the Windsor Assembly Plant in, Ontario, Canada.
Stellantis’ last vehicle of old is the Jeep Patriot. This compact crossover was destroyed in December 2016, when it was last built at Belvidere Assembly Plant. However, 16 units were sold in 2021 – an increase of 433 percent over the previous year.
