Enjoy watching the snake stretch its legs.
Ah, the Dodge Viper. The Viper is my personal favorite sports car. It was a classic that captured the hearts of many during its glory days. It also has one of my favorite model names. It’s hard to imagine another vehicle with a more memorable name than the Viper.
This 2015 Dodge Viper was captured at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds, Florida. It was then set to speed test. This was not the fastest speed you would see on this asphalt, and it wasn’t like the two-seater pushing its limits. This video was a half-mile speed test.
The snake was able to run 152.3 miles an hour (245.9 kilometers per hour) at the end of the run. This is a good result considering it had been slowing down in the beginning. It reached 66 mph (106 km/h) after shifting from first to third gear. Then, there was the amazing sound of that all-aluminum V10 engine.
Although it isn’t a full-fledged top speed race, it’s still refreshing to see the Dodge legend stretch its legs and shower us with its V10 glory. It makes us long for a return.
FCA has denied rumors that the Viper would be returning several times, the most recent being from Sergio Marchionne in 2018. The brand didn’t make any money, but we’ll see if the new stellantis merger can help to bring the nameplate back.
