Now that you’ve seen the images you can see it in its actual form.
Ford Motor Company is a global corporation and has partnered up with Chinese automakers in order to make vehicles that are native to the People’s Republic. This is similar to what Volkswagen did to lower friction costs. Some of these Blue Oval love-children, such as the Ford Territory, have already reached China.
The Ford Equator is the newest of these cars, and was unveiled to the public just a week ago. This unibody SUV has a unique design, loud colors, and a luxurious cabin.
After you have seen the press images, now it is time to take a look at the Equator. This in-depth look was done by Wheelsboy. The Equator is larger and more powerful than the Ranger-based Everest SUV, but it’s smaller overall than the Explorer.
The Equator looks quieter in the metal than what you can see in the gallery. Although the design is slightly different from Ford’s US lineup, it is not surprising given that both automakers were involved in the fusion infusion.
The interior of the Equator is what really piqued our curiosity. The press images alone are sufficient to confirm that the Equator has a very premium cabin. However, the video proves this even more. The layout of six seats is crowned with dual 12.3-inch screens, similar to Mercedes-Benz. Wood trims are used to enhance the luxurious feel. However, space should not be questioned considering China’s need for large vehicles.
The Ford Equator will start selling in China on March 28th, but it’s not unlikely that it will make it to other countries, considering its little brother, Territory, which has already made it abroad.
