Epic RC Unimog Snow Plow is The Best Way to Survive the Snowpocalypse

Small-scale Unimog, large-scale fun.

Making the best of difficult situations is what keeps us going through this journey called life. The United States is currently experiencing winter weather that is certainly making it difficult for half of the country to deal with the snow, frigid temperatures and rolling blackouts within the power grid. We need a pick me up. We need a way to have fun. We need radio-controlled Mercedes Unimog snow plows that can be scaled and controlled by radio, and they are urgently needed.

There are solutions. Reddit recently shared the above YouTube video, which shows a Unimog plowing a sidewalk. Although there are a few companies offering scale-model Unimogs, the video doesn’t identify a particular brand. However, it does look like the 1:12 Unimog by Carson. Although it is available with a tractor, it does not look very large for a 1:12 scale model. Tamiya also has an RC Unimog. It’s not as powerful as the snowplow machine shown here.

German-based scaleART was our choice for the most impressive scale-model Unimog. Reddit mentions this company. It offers a complex detailed Unimog 437, which includes many body styles and accessories, as well as a functional hydraulic plough. You can customize it with many parts, including lights and portal axles. It is electric-powered and has a multi-speed transmission. For maximum effect, it can even make diesel engine sounds.

ScaleART does not mention a scale for Unimogs, but the model’s stated length of 415mm suggests that it is in the 1:10 range. It’s big enough to move snow, but not too large to take up valuable garage space. It is however quite costly. The basic Kit costs EUR2,250, and add-ons can easily cost more than EUR5,000. That’s roughly $6,000 in US currency.
