Facelift for VW T-Roc Cabriolet with Virtually No Camouflage

It will be fully available next year.

The TRoc Cabriolet is Volkswagen’s only available open-top model. It was launched 19 months ago. However, it appears that the German automaker has already begun to prepare a new version of its high-riding cabrio. The first photos of the prototype were sent by our spy photographers and show it on public roads. It appears completely camo-free.

The test car was taken in the countryside near Volkswagen Wolfsburg headquarters and is now ready to reveal its new front fascia. The bumper has a simplified design, with no fog lamps in the lower section. The upper radiator grille is now simpler and has a thicker chrome strip. There’s also a single horizontal bar.

According to our spy, the open-top crossover will also get new headlights that incorporate LED daytime running lamps. This will be more in line with the new grille design. These spy photos also indicate that the bumper’s hexagonal LED elements could be larger to give the T-Roc Cabriolet a more expressive look.

Everything appears to be the same at the rear, with the exception of a few minor changes to the bumper arrangement and taillight design. It is possible to get new wheel designs or exterior colors.

We expect minimal (if any) modifications to the hood of the T-Roc Cabriolet, which will still be powered by the existing TSI engines. Customers have the option of a 1.0-liter, 114 horsepower (85-kilowatt), three-cylinder engine, or a 1.5 liter TSI engine producing 148 hp (1110 kW). The engine choice does not affect the power transmission. It reaches the front wheels via either a 6-speed manual gearbox or optionally a seven-speed dual-clutch automated gearbox.
