A remarkable past opens the door to a bright future.
Ferrari will introduce a 75th anniversary logo as a reminder that Enzo Ferrari opened his first shop in 1947. The Auto Avio Costruzioni 805, his first car, was built in 1940. However, the 125 S racecar was introduced seven years later and was the first Ferrari-badged car ever. The special logo was featured in a video that features company employees and the anniversary.
2022 promises to be a big year for Ferrari’s motorsport and road divisions. One hand, there is the Purosangue To capitalize on the increasing popularity of SUVs, a new range of vehicles will be available. Scuderia Ferrari, on the other hand, hopes that its next Formula 1 car will be competitive and can compete with Mercedes and Red Bull in the new regulations.
A convertible version will also be available next year for the 296 GTB. This will allow the GTS moniker to continue while still maintaining the plug-in hybrid V6 engine of the coupe. Although a more powerful, naturally aspirated V12 engine has been confirmed to be able to match the 830-hp 812 Competizione, it is not clear if it will be available in a new car before 2022.
As a follow-up of the Monza SP1 SP2 speedters and recently introduced Daytona SP3, additional Icona models will be available. The Prancing Horse has signed up to the 2023 Le Mans Hypercar program (LMH). Ideally, a LaFerrari successor would be derived from the race car that will compete in the top class of FIA World Endurance Championship.
Apart from product unveilings, Ferrari is going through some significant organizational changes. Benedetto VIgna was elected Chief Executive Officer in September and is currently planning a corporate reshuffle. Maranello-based company already announced that Chief Brand Diversification Officer Nicola Boari and Chief Technology Officer Michael Leiters will be departing soon. Vincenzo Regazzoni, the Chief Manufacturing Officer, has also been named.
These three senior managers have been replaced and are being hired. Full details on the structural overhaul will be revealed on January 10.
