Ferrari F12 Turbos Rise Out Of The Hood and Make 1,500 HP

It is grand tourer at its best.

The Ferrari F12berlinetta stock is a beautiful grand tourer. Two massive turbos have been added to this car’s hood. This Prancing Horse has 1,500 horsepower (1.119 kilowatts) thanks to a powertrain overhaul.

Aaron Kaufman, TV personality and mechanic, highlights the F12berlinetta on his Daily driven Exotics YouTube channel. They purchased the Ferrari for $300,000. After testing the car on a kart track they decided to install the turbo. The work began in 2020 and was completed recently.

In 2017, the Italian GT was introduced with a naturally-aspirated 6.3-liter V12 that produced 730 horsepower (544 Kilowatts) as well as 509 pound-feet (690 Newton meters) of torque. It was able to accelerate to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.1 seconds, and reach a top speed of 211 mph (340 km/h).

The most difficult problem for owners was the insufficient space in the engine compartment to install the turbos. They had to remove the hood to fit the turbos, but they still had to work to ensure that the components remained in their original positions.

The project’s goal is to have the twin-turbo engine produce approximately 1,500 horsepower. This is twice the powertrain output of the production car.

On July 19, the twin-turbo Ferrari made it’s debut in Santa Ana, California. A large crowd watched the event and saw a video that showed a dramatically different sound from the stock F12berlinetta. This was due to both the turbochargers as well as the racing exhaust system. Daily Driven Exotics won’t miss the chance to test drive the car in the near future.

The F12 model does not have the only turbocharged engine in the world. Mansory created a unique example in 2013 with a twin-turbo configuration. A tuner in America also installed the turbos under the engine.
