Ferrari’s 4RM system, a new innovation for the long-standing Italian sports car manufacturer, is unique. It is 50% lighter than an all-wheel drive standard system.
This video provides additional information on Ferrari’s 4RM all-wheel drive system.
The Ferrari 4RM is the original AWD system. It was unveiled by the Ferrari Four concept in Geneva last week.
The 4RM (Ruote Motrici), is 50% lighter than an all-wheel drive system. The PTU (power transfer uni) draws its torque directly from the crankshaft, while two separate multiplate clutches drive each of the front wheels separately.
The FF luxury cruiser seats four and has a small trunk at the rear. Ferrari loaded the trunk with 2 golf bags as the car charmed the crowds at Geneva to show its limited capacity.
Ferrari Four is powered by a mid-front mounted V12 engine of 6.3 liters with 660 PS (485kW/651 bhp), 683 Nm (504lb-ft) and a seven-speed double clutch gearbox. The time from 0 to 100 km/h is 3.7 seconds. Top speed is 335 km/h (285 mph).
