Officially, this is a one-off project. However, there are at most two SP3JC examples.
A standard Ferrari is not enough for the one-percenter. The Prancing Horse’s styling centre is here to help fulfill the desires of wealthy customers who are willing to pay a lot to have a Ferrari. We’ve seen some very special Maranello cars in recent years, including the Monza SP1 speedster and the SP2 speedsters. Not to mention the F40-inspired SP38, and the stunning J50, which is based on the 488 Spider. This latest creation was originally an F12tdf, but it lost its roof to a very special client.
The SPJ3C was ordered by a Ferrari collector looking for a “pure and uncompromising roadster.” You might think it’s the same car with a different paint finish. However, closer inspection will reveal that the original SPJ3C had a right-hand drive configuration while this matte gray model with red accents has an LHD layout. Here’s an image showing the two cars in the exact same spot.
The plot twist is that the cars are owned by the exact same person. Two Ferraris are better than one. The buyer claims that the second SP3JC is the first Ferrari to combine a matte and gloss paint, and he ordered the LHD gray model for “continental driving.”
The identity of the buyer is not revealed in the press release. According to an article published by Classic Driver, John Collins is the founder of Ferrari dealer Talacrest, through which he sold approximately 1,750 classic Ferraris
