First Porsche 911 (992) Special Edition Honors Jacky Ickx

The Belgian Legend Edition is limited at 75 cars. One for every year since the birth of the race car driver.

Born in Brussels, January 1, 1945, Jacques Bernard Ickx is one the most accomplished race car drivers ever. He has six 24 Hour Le Mans titles to his credit. In 1969, he won the endurance race with a Ford GT 40. He then won again in 1975 in the Mirage GR8 Cosworth. In 1976, 1977 and 1981, he won the Porsches race. He also won in 1982. A limited-run Belgian Legend Edition is being released by the Stuttgart-based marque to honor the Belgian race car driver.

It’s based on the Carrera 4S, and only available in Belgium. It is a distinctive “X Blue” color that can be seen on the 20- and 21 inch Carrera Classic alloy wheels, where it has been combined to white accents. This two-tone appearance isn’t a random one. It’s a nod towards Jacky Ickx’s blue and white helmet.

Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur has taken care of the 992 special edition. The badge on the driver’s side B pillar, which displays the signature and the Belgian flag, can be used to visually identify the car.

Inside the cabin, subtle changes continue. The carbon door sill guards proudly display the “Belgian Legend Edition” lettering. Between the seats, the leather-wrapped central armrest bears Ickx’s signature. The key fob is finished in the same color of the car and has his signature.

Carrera 4S Belgian Legend Edition features a slightly different interior to the model it is based on. It comes with 18-way sports seats with “911_ logos at the headrests. The seats have Pebble Gray piping, and leather at the back.

Although pricing details are not available, it is clear that the Belgian Legend Edition is more expensive than the standard Carrera 4S Coupe in Belgium starting at EUR131,381. The model starts at $120,600 in the United States.
