Enter the “California-package.”
Fisker wants us to remember that an all-electric SUV will be coming from the company. We now have a final image of the electric utility, after a few teasers. We are intrigued, but we don’t know if it is exactly.
Published on Henrik Fisker’s twitter account Yesterday, the photo (See the gallery below () shows us a small block of buttons that are likely to be located on the overhead console. This is where you will find the sunroof controls and the map lights. Here’s where the fun begins.
Fisker’s photo comes with a brief description that promises a first-in class sunroof on an SUV. More precisely, the vehicle will be “all open, without being a soft top” and that leaves a few possible options for what Fisker describes as a “California-package.”
Our Road Show by CNet friends point out that the roof will likely look similar to what Jeep Wrangler’s new Jeep Wrangler offers, a panel that retracts completely at the touch of one button. Fisker’s SUV, on the other hand, will have a hard roof. The Wrangler’s roof is made of fabric. It will be fascinating to see how it retracts and moves.
A construction inspired by the landaulettes is another option. This one seems even more unlikely. Although the rear passengers will not be separated from the driver via a division, a convertible roof for the rear seats is something that’s rare and unheard of in an SUV. Although it doesn’t make much sense, it is original.
Fisker promises that the starting price for the electric SUV will be lower than the $40,000 mark when it hits showrooms in 2021. It should run for approximately 300 miles (483 km) on a single charge.
