Surprise! Surprise!
We have been seeing the next-generation Land Rover Range Rover regularly over the past year. It has been tested on the Nurburgring as well as on the public roads. We know that it will not differ from the previous model. A new rendering by Kolesa.ru attempts to reveal the camouflage. Let’s take a closer look at the details.
These two virtual drawings are based on spy photos of the Range Rover. This means that the dimensions and proportions of its body should match the actual car. If you’re a bit surprised at what you see, the new Range Rover won’t alter the proportions of any previous luxury SUV.
It is the small details that make the difference. The Velar-inspired door handles and the slimmer headlights make this look more appealing. The rear layout is the same, but the taillights have a new design, and the roofline is more sloped, again presumably inspired by the Range Rover Velar. Land Rover is also developing long-wheelbase Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Sport models.
The new SUV will look like an evolution from the outside, but underneath it will ride on a completely new platform. We expect that virtually every engine will have some form of electric support. The MLA architecture will make it easier to adopt electrified powertrains. Recently, a new, possibly more powerful plug in hybrid variant was spotted. There should also be at least one additional option, a BMW-sourced V8 unit. However, that has not been officially confirmed.
The Range Rover is likely to be fully realized in six months. It will be available worldwide in the second quarter next year.
