Doc Brown would be proud.
Let’s be real for a second. In 1985, Back to the Future was released. Doc Brown’s trailer revealed the time-traveling DeLorean. It is likely that very few people knew the V8 engine sound was fake. DeLorean, a small-known company that had failed, was at that time unknown and nobody knew that it actually had an anemic V6. A V6 is not enough to make a blockbuster movie about a time-travelling sports car.
We suspect that someone has stuck a V8 in a DeLorean over the years. At least one person has done it, and this was very recently. Alexandre Claudin is that person. You may have seen him in the Netflix car stunt series . The Dodge Charger was his vehicle of choice for the gig. However, the French drift driver has a fondness for Back to the Future and, specifically, the DeLorean. He didn’t like the fake V8 sound so he stuffed an LS engine under the hood. We mean the front Hood.
The build is documented by his Instagram account, which lets’s just say is extreme. The DeLorean is a rear-engined car so fitting a V8 in the front required extensive custom fabrication. The underside of the standard body is covered by a tube frame. A full cage is inside, as this sucker was destined to drift sideways. The suspension components and the interior are unique, but it’s not hard to remember what made the DeLorean so famous. Yes, the gullwing doors are still doing their thing and there is a flux capacitor behind them. This is so cool!
Although it may not be able to break through the space-time continuum like Mr. Fusion, we are certain that this thing will make a few people’s egos while it moves around the global motoring scene.
