The Bronco was quickly stopped by the grounds crew.
America was designed for the automobile. There are many roads that run across the country. However, there is plenty of land available for those who wish to have some off-road fun. You don’t have to trash another person’s property if there are designated spaces for rock crawling and drag racing. This is what one Ford Bronco joyrider did when he drove into San Diego’s Padres ballpark.
Video of the incident shared The San Diego Union Tribune The new Ford Driving across the field covered in dirt, leaving dark ruts on the ground. According to the publication, the incident occurred just before 10 a.m. Friday when the driver entered into the ballpark via a tunnel.
Ground crew members on the site were preparing the park to host the upcoming baseball season. They quickly blocked the tunnel using a forklift and cut off the Bronco’s only exit. The video shows the grounds crew “apprehending” the driver and he eventually stops his joyride. The video shows the driver confronting the grounds crew, but it doesn’t seem aggressive. Instead, the crew sits next to the Bronco until security arrives.
The San Diego Union Tribune did not receive much information from the police regarding the incident. The police confirmed that the incident occurred and that the officer arrested the man for felony Vandalism. This could lead to heavy fines or even jail time. The driver’s identity was not released by the police.
Although it’s not clear what the driver thought while driving onto the field, we know that there are many other places he could’ve gone if he wanted to get his Bronco’s tires muddy. The driver’s few moments of off-road fun will most likely lead to many years of legal headaches. This is a lesson: keep your vehicular fun where it’s allowed.
