Sometimes speed is not your friend.
10 codes are the old-school CB chatter. 10-4 is probably what you know, and 10-10 is when you take a break or sign off. But there are many other codes that can mean different things. What does this have to do the Ford Bronco being dragged through a mud pit. 10-33 refers to an emergency that usually involves a crash. This video is 10:33 in length. Coincidence? Yeah, probably.
This is a great coincidence, considering that the Bronco does suffer some damage from a crash. Although it isn’t an extremely severe crash, as we have seen from aggressive off-roaders sometimes, this driver cannonballs into the mud pit and lands on something very strong. The SUV then contacts the left Berm, aiming in on the driver’s side. The impact almost causes a rollover, but the Bronco stops abruptly. Even an off-camera person can say with reference to the Bronco’s approach. You think so?
Things seem to be going well at first glance. We hear strange noises from the driver as he reverses and we can see that the front wheels are spinning. To get out of the remaining mud, he punches it and we hear some unpleasant pops from his SUV. It’s the guttural! Snap Then, a squeal is heard that replays in our heads over and over. This is the moment that the front wheels stop turning. And no, the Bronco was not free from the mud at the time. Bummer.
The incident did not result in any injuries to anyone, and the Bronco, a modified Black Diamond, still worked in 2WD mode without issue. Although the owner believes it is a cracked CV joint on the front axle the noise could be indicative of a more serious problem. The owner acknowledged that the damage may be more severe and suggested that a beefier front end for the Sasquatch package might be worth the investment. Given the video, it might prove difficult to file a warranty claim with Ford.
The video ends with a promise to update the Bronco on its damage. However, that has yet to happen. It’s safe for now to say that this Bronco is 10-10.
