Ford Fusion/ Mondeo Successor Featured with Production Body, Headlights

The Evos-like design is almost identical, but it has a more sedan-like appearance.

Everyone was eager to conclude that the Ford Evos model will replace the Fusion in North America, and the Mondeo Europe. But Ford Product Communication Manager Mike Levine quickly announced on Twitter that the Evos was only available to customers in China and that there were no plans to sell it elsewhere.

Another batch of spy photos shows us in Germany, where our spies captured a Ford prototype being tested with its production body. It looks very similar to the Evos, and the front fascia design matches that of the Chinese car. The body is different from the Evos’ B-pillar back. However, the test car has a more sedan-like form than the Evos.

It also appears to be a bit lower than the Chinese model, which could indicate that there are potential suspension changes under the sleek body. The prototype also appears slightly longer than the actual model, but this could be a visual illusion due to the sedan-like profile of the rear.

The large GPS shark fin antenna and pop-out door handles are two other notable features. The back of the vehicle is clearly visible with an exhaust, which indicates that it is not fully electric. This prototype could be powered by a plug in hybrid powertrain, which is shared with Escape/Kuga. However, this assumption is only for now.

We had to be truthful and say that Ford felt like Levine was playing a game with them. The prototype that was spotted in Europe strongly suggests that the automaker is developing a version for other markets. It could even be given a different name. Technically speaking, Levine is correct in stating that the Evos will not be sold outside China.
