The once-powerful family sedans that funded multi-national automotive companies are now in dire need of revival. The Ford Fusion (or Mondeo, as it is known in Europe) was for a while the best middle-class family vehicle. This was a tried-and-true sedan that Ford considered the best family vehicle. However, the Ford Fusion lost its popularity and sales began to decline over the years.
Ford decided to end the Fusion in America due to a dip in sales so that it could concentrate its production efforts on the SUVs customers desired. Ford has now unveiled a retooled Ford Fusion sedan, which will look just like an SUV. Car magazine says that the Ford Fusion/Mondeo will be available by the end of 2021.
The Fusion/Mondeo will have a hybrid drivetrain, as well as a higher ride height. The new Fusion/Mondeo should offer SUV-like all-weather performance and a car-like driving experience. Customers looking for a car that will last for a long time should be attracted to the hybrid configuration.
