It is expected that the crossover due will debut before year’s end.
Although the current generation Ford Escape is a solid, all-rounder on the market, it lacks the WOW factor in its design. Ford knows this and will attempt to add some excitement to the crossover’s design when the facelifted model is available. The prototypes are currently being developed. We also have a spy video that shows them testing the model on German roads. A new rendering gives a preview of the product.
CarSpyMedia goes to Germany, where Ford conducts tests with the new Kuga. Although camouflage is used on the front of both trial cars, it is not secret that the new design has been revealed. The front fascia is now more solid thanks to new thinner headlights and a reshaped grille radiator. The hood has been modified to accommodate the slimmer headlights. The taillights are unchanged in design, but have received new graphics.
Kolesa.ru‘s two renderings clearly show that the new Kuga / Escape design could be much more appealing than the previous model. A wider front grille and new headlights will give the vehicle a modern look. There could also be new wheel designs and exterior colors. The cabin could also get a new infotainment system that features a larger, tablet-style display on the central console. Technology upgrades are also possible across the range.
We don’t anticipate any major changes in the engine options for the Escape or the Kuga. The Kuga will likely be the first to arrive and will continue to offer the same electrified powertrains as the Escape. The prototype in the video looks a lot like a diesel engine. This probably means that the compression ignition option will still be available.
The Escape is Ford’s second-best-selling crossover in America, trailing only the Explorer. The Escape saw 145,415 deliveries in 2018, but that was 18.5 percent less than 2020.
