Will the Maverick’s charm attract buyers?
You’ve probably seen many photos and videos of the new Ford Maverick. You’ve probably seen an comparison to the Ranger back when Maverick was still camouflaged. We also did a sketched comparison of all Ford trucks. However, this is our first chance to see Ford’s full-size, compact and mid-size trucks together in real life.
Thanks to Maverick Truck Club and Todd Grace for this catch. An administrator of the forum posted images of Mavericks who stopped at Ford dealerships. The smallest Blue Oval truck has not yet been released. It will be available in the fall. Pre-production trucks are still out and about, and some of them are taking family photos. This is the Maverick compared to the Ranger, F150. We think the truck is smaller than what we imagined compared with its siblings.
The best angle to compare is the head-on view at top of article. The profile photo of the Maverick trucks above suggests that Ford tried very hard making it appear larger than it actually is. The Maverick is a small, conservative truck that looks good by itself. Although it isn’t a terrible look, it looks almost as if the Maverick has an allergic reaction to peanuts next to the Ranger. This makes the slab sides appear puffy due to the high beltline. The large headlights and larger grille make it look awkward.
This is a fascinating take on the truck, but it won’t change anyone’s enthusiasm for it. Ford hopes to attract first-time buyers of new vehicles with Maverick. We expect that shoppers will not be too concerned about fitting in with the traditional truck crowd. We have heard from internet chatter and comments that the traditional truck crowd doesn’t want to accept the unibody Maverick for a proper pickup.
The next few years in the US pickup truck scene should be quite interesting.
