Ford Maxi Motor Dreams Baby Crib Simulates Riding in a Car

You’ll now need another reason for a midnight taco run.

Fordhas an idea to help your baby fall asleep soundly, without the need for late-night minivan trips that can cause unconsciousness. The Max Motor Dreams baby crib features built-in speakers, LED lighting and a motion-enabled bed that mimics the car rides that put babies to sleep.

Alejandro Lopez Bravo, a Spanish creative studio Espada y Santa Cruz designed the crib. The crib is more than a motorized, illuminated cot. The cot works with a smartphone app, which can record sounds, distance and movement for a specific baby-approved route. The information is then sent to the crib which mimics the route.

The base of the crib has a speaker that mutes engine and road noises. Orange LED lights at its top simulate 360-degree motion to reenact street lamps. Motorized actuators make baby gently rock up and around corners using motion data from the smartphone.

It doesn’t make loud exhaust sounds, or mimic high-G cornering. This is a shame, considering you wrote this article about helping parents and babies sleep better. It’s fine, we thought it too.

You’re probably wondering how much this would cost, especially if your little one is a wild child who loves to go crazy at night. This is technically still a concept and we don’t have any information. It will be expensive considering the technology involved and the fact that it states Ford. It is an innovative approach to something that has undoubtedly helped children sleep since the introduction of cars. Perhaps parents will also be able to get some rest now.
