This is a great addition to sleeper F-150 builds.
Modern full-size trucks are not considered underpowered by anyone. Take a look at Ford F-150. The 3.0-liter Powerstroke is the weakest option in terms of horsepower, but it still produces 250 horsepower (190 Kilowatts) as well as 440 pound-feet (697 Newton meters) of torque.
Even the F150 with Ecoboost can deliver strong performance. Car and Driver claims that the F-150 can run from 0-60 mph in 5.1 seconds. Ford offers a V8 with 400 horsepower for those who prefer a naturally-aspirated motor.
There are those who believe the truck can go faster. Ford Performance is here to help those who wish their V8 F-150 could chase Ram TRXs full-time. Ford Performance has developed a supercharger kit to fit the 5.0 Coyote. It also has some pretty cool details.
Mike Goodwin, engines/drivetrain/calibrations product manager at Ford Performance, gave Ford Authority juicy information about the supercharger’s performance gains. The kit increases the F-150’s V8-powered power output by 300 horsepower (223 Kilowatts) over the stock engine. This kit can give you a F-150 with 700 horsepower (522 Kilowatts) by simply bolting it on. This kit gives you torque at 590 pound-feet (880 Newton-meters), which is 180 pounds more than the standard V8.
This kit puts the F-150’s V8 F-150 on par with the Ram TRX for horsepower. The TRX is a little more powerful than the tuned F-150 with 707 horsepower (527 Kilowatts). The Ram has 645 pound feet (875 Newton-meters) more torque than the Ford’s 590 pound-feet.
The supercharger will make any V8 F-150 a very efficient sleeper. The EcoBoost F-150 can go from 0-60 mph in five seconds. A supercharged F-150 will likely be able to do the same feat in four seconds.
Interested? This kit is available for $7,500 without labor costs. This could add $2,000-$3,000 to the cost of the kit. Ford Performance will begin taking orders for this package by the end of the year.
