Ford Ranger Refreshed For Europe, Gets New Diesel Engine

The package also includes a new 10-speed automatic.

Ford launched the Ranger Raptor in August for the European market and plans to have it in its showrooms on the other side by mid-2019. It will be available at dealers along with the 2019 model year Ranger models, which were just revealed for the Old Continent.

It’s not a facelift, but we won’t refer to it that way. The visual revisions have been kept to a minimum. The front bumper has a new shape, and the Wildtrak trim’s fascia has been slightly reshaped. Minor interior changes are also possible, with the exception of premium leather upholstery and new trim options.

There are more important things happening beneath the skin. The new 2.0-liter diesel engine for the Euro Ranger comes from Ford’s EcoBlue family. It will come with either 130 horsepower (97kilowatts), 170 HP (127 kW) or 210 Hp (157kW), depending on where it is sold. The two first-turbo options replace the 2.2-liter TDCi. The most powerful option uses twin-turbo technology. It replaces the 3.2-liter five cylinder TDCi.

Customers will not be offered the EcoBoost turbo-gas engine of 2.3-liters that powers the U.S-spec model.

All Ranger models in Europe are standard with all-wheel drive. The motor’s power will be transmitted to the AWD system via a 10-speed automatic, which is new for the market increasing the Ranger’s overall fuel efficiency by around 10 percent over the previous model. Standard gearboxes are a six-speed manual.

Ford claims that the Ranger’s updated version is Europe’s first pickup to include Pre-Collision Assist and Pedestrian Detection technologies. These technologies are also available in the United States. Keyless entry and engine start functions are now available for the first-ever time on Europe’s most popular truck. The tailgate lock has been integrated into the central locking system.
