The same hybrid powertrain is available for the Galaxy MPV.
The Ford S-Max minivan is comfortable and comes in five- or seven-seat configurations. It’s sold in Europe. The hybrid powertrain is an important addition to the engine lineup. The S-Max Hybrid model is the first electrified model in the history. It’s already promising.
The stylish MPV is powered by a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle gasoline engine. It is supported by a small electric drive and the most recent generation of the automaker’s power-split transmission. This results in a peak output power of 190 horsepower (142kilowatts), and an average fuel consumption at 6.4 liters/100 km or 36.7 miles per gallon. According to Europe’s WLTP standard, the CO2 emissions for this vehicle are 146-147 grams per kilometer.
The S-Max’s size means that the sprint of 0-62 miles per an hour (100 km/h) takes 9.8 seconds. Although it may not be the fastest car on the road, Ford promises a smooth, linear acceleration that compliments the Smax’s “inherently sportsy” character.
Innovations that seamlessly integrate into family life, such as a car-like driving experience and seats that can fold down at the touch of a button, have always been part of the S-Max appeal. Ford states that the new, efficient hybrid powertrain is a natural addition to this lineup.
The same electrified powertrain is available for the Galaxy minivan, which is the S-Max’s utilitarian brother. Although it is slower at off-the-line acceleration, the Galaxy minivan has more cargo space in both the five and seven-seat configurations. You can still use 300 liters (10.59 cubic feet) of cargo volume even if you have seven seats in place. You’ll be able to fit a 2,339-liter (82.6 cuft) trunk when you remove the third and fourth rows of seats.
