The Mustang upgraded has a six speed manual transmission, and the engine tweaks make it great.
Ford Mustangs aren’t as common on British roads than they are in the United States. The rarity of the American pony car adds interest to any source in the UK. Carwow compares the Shelby GT500 to a more tuned Mustang GT.
This challenge is more familiar with the GT500. The GT500’s supercharged V8 produces 760 horsepower (567 Kilowatts) as well as 625 pound-feet (847 Newton meters) of torque. The power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox.
The GT500 is not available for import by Ford into the UK. It’s also quite expensive to obtain one. According to the video, the asking price is PS125,000 (or $167,818 at current exchange rate).
Clive Sutton, a UK importer and tuner, is importing the CS850GT Mustang. The GT500 will be up against it. According to Sutton’s website, the GT500 has a supercharged V8 of 5.0-liters that produces 847 horsepower (632 kW), but this video shows it producing 850 HP (634 kW). This GT500 has a six speed manual, instead of the dual-clutch gearbox.
The CS850GT starts from PS115,000 ($154.392). You can add carbon fiber to the one shown in this video, which will bring it up to PS135,000 ($181,243).
This comparison begins with a drag race. Although the CS850GT leads at first, it is beaten by the manual gearbox. The GT500’s dual clutch gearbox shifts almost seamlessly so that the powertrain can continue putting down power, while the CS850GT must balance throttle and clutch.
The Shelby covers the quarter-mile in just 11.8 seconds. To cover the same distance, the CS850GT takes 12.2 seconds.
Then they race from a roll. For a while, the cars race side-by-side until the CS850GT has to shift gears. The GT500 then takes over.
The braking test is the final step. The GT500 wins. The GT500’s nose is almost identical to the CS850GT’s, which means that the race is very close.
