It could produce up to 1,200 horsepower.
Although it might not appear like an engine for Ford’s Super Duty pickups, the engine can produce incredible power with the right hardware. The REVan Evan YouTube channel has a new video that shows how powerful a ProCharger can be. However, the 7.3-liter Godzilla engines have some additional upgrades. It produces a little more power than it is expected which reduces its final output.
The engine produced a strong 965 horsepower (719 Kilowatts) as well as 845 pound-feet (1.145 Newton-meters). However, it could have been more. Although the engine used fuel injectors that were GT500 to pump fuel, they didn’t pump enough for its needs. The engine could produce 975 to 1,000 horsepower (727-746kW) with larger injectors. This impressive output was possible with just nine pounds of boost pressure.
Other than the ProCharger, there were other upgrades to the engine, such as Stage 2 heads and upgraded pistons. It also had its original intake and throttle body. The engine could be upgraded with additional hardware, such as a new intake or pulley. This is much more than the 850 horsepower (633 kW), that the customer desires.
As previously shown, the new engine is very flexible. Previous videos show the 7.3-liter V8 in various configurations producing different outputs. Tuners quickly took the crate engine’s stock outputs of 440 hp (325 kW), and 475 lb/ft (644Nm) to 780 HP (581 kW) and then to 1,100 hp (820kW) by the end. Tuners have a lot more to do with the engine. We’ll be keeping an eye on the future tunes.
