Both of them hit 62 mph in just 3.9 seconds.
The Mercedes AMG A45S has the world’s fastest turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The car can reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.9 seconds. The Audi RS5 Sportback boasts a 0-60 time of 3.9 seconds with its twin-turbocharged V6 that produces 450 horsepower (335 kW). Autocar India’s new video shows the two cars in drag racing to compare.
The AMG’s two-liter four-cylinder produces a strong 368 pound-feet (525 Newton-meters) torque. However, it is less than the Audi’s 2.9-liter’s 442 Lb-ft (602 Nm). The Mercedes is lighter than the Audi at 3,417 lb (1.785 kg). Both cars have all-wheel drive. However, Mercedes transmits the AMG’s power through an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission while the RS5 Sportback uses a 8-speed auto to power the Quattro all wheel-drive system.
The Audi leads the way from the start line in the first race. This puts it well ahead of the Mercedes. With a time of 12.246 seconds, the Audi was first. The Mercedes came in second at 12.363 minutes. The Audi failed to replicate its first-race launch. However, the Mercedes gained enough ground to take the lead and finish the race in 12.345 seconds. It was done in 12.403.
The pair finished the final race in the best possible form, with both getting equal starts. The Audi managed to pass the Mercedes just before it crossed the finish line in 12.116 seconds. In 12.190 seconds, the Mercedes crossed it. The AMG A45 S, RS5 Sportback and RS5 Sportback demonstrate how performance cars can be modified with different powertrains while still delivering the same performance – at most at the drag strip. It would be very different on a curvy track.
