Four-Door Bugatti Super Sedan Possibly Spotted Under Wraps

It does not look like a Chiron, or a Divo.

The rumours about a four-door Bugatti go back almost a decade to when the bespoke automaker presented the 16C Galibier concept in an invitation-only event. The Geneva Motor Show was the year it made its public debut. The idea of a Bugatti four-door sedan has been rumored since. It never happened. A new photo taken by TheSupercarBlog.com shows a longer, more covered Bugatti that may be the long-awaited sedan.

It appears that the Bugatti covered could be either a Chiron, or Divo. This photo needs closer inspection. Bugatti’s wheelbase appears longer than any of its other models. The rear overhang is also more noticeable. It is difficult to see proportions in a 2-dimensional photo. At the front you can see the cover drape surrounding Bugatti’s iconic Horseshoe Grille. This is the outline pressing against fabric.

The car’s front bumper is only a few inches from the base of its windshield. This is what is most unusual about it. Bugatti intended the 16C Galibier supercar to be front-engined. The car shown here does not appear to have enough space for a W16 quad-turbocharged engine. This car has a steep rear roofline, which would make it more suitable to house such an engine. The extended rear overhang could be explained by the engine being housed in the rear.

Last year, Wolfgang Durheimer (president of Bugatti Automobiles) spoke to Automotive News, saying that “the four-door car was not dead”. He also stated that the Bugatti brand would only be one model – which we can see is not true. The Divo is built on the same platform as the Chiron and has the same engine. To make space for the second row of seats, a four-door sedan would need additional engineering.

Although we don’t know exactly what Bugatti is planning, the fact that there appears to be a four door model in secret only fuels speculation. Durheimer stated that the Chiron would last eight years in an interview with Automotive News. It is possible that the brand will remain a one-model brand for a while before we see any concept.
