Gas Monkey Garage VW Shorty Bus going to auction

Barrett-Jackson will auction off this cute little VW Bus that was restored by Gas Monkey Garage.

This isn’t your typical Volkswagen bus; it is a “shorty”. It was built in 1986. However, Gas Monkey Garage was able, with the help of some close friends, to restore it to like new condition. This handsome little guy will be auctioned at the Barrett Jackson Las Vegas event.

Gas Monkey Garage completed the restoration of the “shorty” Bus in 2014. It had been sitting unused for many years before Richard Rawlings’ team took it on. It was restored to its original glory by the crew, who redesigned everything, from the exterior to the interior to the engine to the suspension.

The interior was finished with white plastic and accented Black Mountain cloth seats. Wagons West also reworked the suspension to make it perform like new. Luck’s Fabshop installed a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine under the hood. It is paired with a new four speed manual transmission.

Barrett-Jackson states that the Bus is intended for display and display purposes only. However, it can be driven and is street legal. The Bus will be sold without reserve on October 13th.
