General Motors launches a $9,000 Pickup Truck in China

For easier access, the sides of cargo bed can be folded down.

If it was available in the United States, the Wuling Zhengtu pickup would be priced at $9,033.65 (RMB58,800). The dual-cab model, which has five seats, would cost 9,648.18 (RMB 62,000).

Wuling is a General Motors brand in China. The Zhengtu pickup is the first one. The truck measures 201 in (5,105 millimeters long) and the cargo bed is 78.74 in (2,000 millimeters).

A Chevrolet Colorado in the US measures 224.9inches (5,713millimeters) or 2212.7inches (5,403millimeters), depending upon the configuration. You can choose from a cargo bed measuring 74 inches (1.880 millimeters), or 62 inches (1.575 millimeters).

The cargo bed of the Zhengtu is particularly useful as its sides can be folded down. This makes loading and unloading much easier. It can also be used to carry awkwardly shaped items that may need to hang above an edge.

The exterior is chunky. The chrome grille spans the entire width and connects visually to the headlights.

Zhengtu’s interior features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment screen that can be controlled by voice commands. Below the screen, there are three knobs for HVAC control. Wuling claims the truck is comparable to a passenger car in terms of noise, vibration, harshness, and harshness.

Because the Zhengtu’s 1.5-liter engine produces 99 horsepower (74 kilowatts), it is not a heavy hauler. Wuling announced safety features such as anti-lock brakes, electronic brake force distribution and other safety features.

Wuling products are not available in the US. The Zhengtu is unlikely to be the model that introduces the brand to the US. The cargo bed’s fold-down sides are one of many interesting options on display.
