This could be Hyundai’s last chance to save its V8.
The Genesis G90 is a large luxury sedan with a naturally-aspirated V8 engine. Genesis offers the powerful 5.0-liter engine over the turbocharged 3.3 liter V6. The larger unit produces a healthy 420 horsepower (313 Kilowatts) as well as 383 pound-feet (519 Newton-meters).
This may be the last V8 naturally aspirated we see. Hyundai The company intends to eliminate the engine completely by the end of next year. It shouldn’t surprise you that Kia has removed the V8 option from the K9 latest model, which is no more available in the US. These two large sedans will share the exact same platform and powertrain options. The G90’s twin-turbo, 3.5-liter V6 will be the same as the GV80. This engine produces 375 horsepower (280 kW) as well as 391 lbft (530 Nm). The new version would have slightly lower horsepower but a slight increase in torque.
The new G90 will feature split light fixtures and the brand’s iconic shield-shaped grille. Rear-wheel steering, Highway Driver Pilot with level 3 autonomy and a new air suspension are some of the other features that we expect to see on the G90.
The 2022 Genesis G90 will be available in South Korea later this year, before arriving in the USA early next year. Pricing information is not available, but the current G90 retails at $72,950. Expect a slight increase in price.
