It’s not John Deere; it’s Ron Beer.
Although the zero-turn ride on lawnmower can be a great way of keeping your grass under control, it has its limitations. YouTuber Ginger Billy set out to create his own grass cutter. He attached a mower on the back of his Ford Festiva.
He wanted to make his life easier when mowing his lawn. Although Billy was not a groundskeeper at Augusta he did have a number of problems with his old ride-on mower. He saw the Ford Festiva as the ideal base to his creation in order to avoid getting sunburned or sweaty from his regular lawn care routine.
To make a truck bed, the rear portion of the vehicle was removed. A 600cc Briggs & Stratton mower engine powers the mower blades at its back. Instead of pulling the mower, Billy can use the ignition key located in the center console to start it. If the driver is unable to handle the power and shock of the B & G engine, the motor has a kill switch.
The Ron Beer has another advantage – and this is just one of many – that the driver can ride in the air conditioner. It provides a comfortable ride and prevents sunburns. It’s great! But the two main party items that really caught our attention were the radio and the passenger chair. These are two things you wouldn’t want to miss out on with a zero-turn mower.
Although this is not his first venture into lawnmower construction, it is certainly one of his most complex projects. We’d love to hear your opinions on the machine. Would you consider switching to Ron Beer?
