This is the perfect setting for a dystopian videogame.
General Motors might not have a dedicated off-roader but its designers aren’t having any trouble coming up with one. It is not likely to be on dealer lots any time soon, as this sketch is only a rough idea. A radical off-roader looks ready to conquer a dystopia. This is the latest Instagram share by GM Design. It’s like a Halo Warthog that was built for the entire family. That’s a huge win in our books.
The sketch shows the front-end’s angular shape, with a detached bumper. The corners contain a three-piece, triangular-cutout headlight unit. This adds to the already well-defined face. Two red markings are located above a rugged-looking skid plate. Although it appears to be cab-forward, the windshield is located at the front. However, the angle makes it difficult for people to determine its proportions.
The flares extend up to the front bumper and sit above the headlights. They house large, muddy tires. This gives the SUV an insect-like look. Although we can’t see much inside, there appears to be at least four seats in the right-hand drive vehicle. Although it is hard to see the rear, there seems to be a small truck bed there. A pair of intakes are located along the sides behind the doors accentuate the rear’s wide fender flares.
You can check out the GM Design Instagram to see what goes on behind-the scenes at a car company. These sketches can be used to show the first versions of future styling features that might end up on production vehicles. We can’t imagine that much of this amazing sketch will make it onto the next Chevy Bolt. But, that would be awesome.
