There are many options for designing a pickup.
It is amazing to see how trucks have evolved over the years while the basic design has remained the same. Although the cab sits in the middle of the engine bay and bed respectively, automakers have done an amazing job of keeping their designs fresh and modern. A new GM design sketch shows what the future trucks will look like.
This is not a future product, but it does look like an evolution of the Chevy Silverado. The sketch takes the truck’s current front-end design to its extreme. It is toughened with gray styling and C-shaped lighting elements. Fog lamps are placed at the corners of the bumper. The aggressive front is topped by an aggressive hood. It has hood extractors at the leading edge and plenty of creases to give it some style definition.
The truck’s thick fenders create a square bulge on the sides. It blends into the rear bumper haunches. This combination of striking orange exterior paint and a white roof looks great. The suicide doors are a unique feature. The kick up in the sheetmetal at the rear door adds some sportiness to the otherwise straight-edged greenhouse shape.
The truck bud is located at the back. This is not surprising. If the truck’s functionality is lost, an automaker might be forced to change its styling. This sketch looks like it could be made into a product. It is different from other sketches on the GM Design Instagram page, which are often too fanciful to work on the road. Chevy is working on an updated Silverado for 2022 model year. But, we don’t think it will look like this.
