Modern amenities such as smartphone integration are still available.
GTO Engineering presented renderings of the Ferrari-inspired Squalo back in April. Now, the company has released sketches that show the retro styling of the interior. It is a cabin that combines old-school aesthetics with modern materials.
The Squalo’s controls are a traditional look. There are modern conveniences, such as smartphone integration. GTO Engineering claims that there is an additional infotainment display hidden within the product. This will be revealed in a teaser.
“Squalo drivers will spend more inside the car than they do looking outside. So it was crucial to us that not only did we listen to them but also used our experience driving sports cars to help us focus on what is important within the cabin: simplicity, driver engagement,” stated Mark Lyon, GTO Engineering’s Managing Director and Founder.
The Squalo’s exterior styling is influenced by 1960s Ferraris. GTO Engineering’s 250 GT Lusso bears the closest resemblance. This machine will also feature a 4.0-liter quad cam V12 engine. It should be able to reproduce the sound of classic sports cars. Horsepower specifications are still not available.
The Squalo rides on a steel tubular chassis with aluminum subframes. The bodywork is made of a mixture of aluminum and carbon fiber. The car should be as light as possible and weigh less than 2,204 pounds (1,099 kilograms). All four corners have independent suspension.
We will likely see many more teasers of the Squalo in future, before the official unveiling. Deliveries to customers are expected to start in 2023.
