Have a look at the SSC Tuatara’s Beefy engine

It’s been seven years in the making. Let’s wait until August 26.

The upcoming Tuatara is long overdue. SSC, previously known as Shelby SuperCars introduced its first concept in 2011. It was an amazing work of art, with the ambition to be the fastest car in the world, just like the Ultimate Aero.

Seven years later, the Tuatara is still a concept car and a prototype. However, it will not be available until August 26, 2018. SSC has confirmed that the final production version will be revealed at Pebble Beach 2018, during Monterey Car Week. SSC teased the Tuatara by dropping teasers, suggesting that it will not be too different from the prototypes released in previous years.

SSC has been kind enough to provide more information about the Tuatara this time. We have three photos of the supercar’s beefy engine, which is the heart and soul of the hypercar. Below is the image:

SSC seems to have retained the engine from the previous prototypes, a V8 with 2 turbochargers. Although no figures were provided in the press release by SSC, the company stated that the Tuatara would not only exceed the earlier announcements, but also surpass other hypercars competing to be the fastest and most efficient.

It doesn’t matter what it means, but it is certainly a bold statement that you need to live up to. This power plant looks great, and it’s muscular. We love those huge headers and the fitting color.

SSC will reveal the specs of this powerful engine at the official unveiling of the Tuatara at Pebble Beach. However, the original output figures for the SSC Tuatara prototypes were 1,350 horsepower and 1,280 pounds-feet torque. Let’s hope it will be more.
