The future owner will not be able drive the vehicle more than 2,500 miles per year.
Hennessey is no longer the Texas-based tuner who obsesses about horsepower. Hennessey is now a company that can develop its own supercar. The Venom is a hypercar that will break the street-legal record for fastest street-legal production vehicle. This is the only 24-piece $2.1 million machine, with each one looking exactly like this.
This F5 was ordered in Blue Arione and orange accents inside by Howard Panes, an entrepreneur. The car will be registered in the United States and the future owner will not be allowed to drive it more than 2,500 miles. This is because Hennessey’s first bespoke vehicle lacks federal homologation. Because it doesn’t have airbags, it can only be registered as a show or display vehicle.
Hennessey had approximately half the production run sold to early adopters by mid-December 2020, when the prototype was revealed. John Hennessey hinted earlier this year that a high-downforce derivative, F5 GT, was on the horizon. It is not clear how many units are still available.
The Venom F5 could be the last hope for hypercars and supercars that are powered solely by an internal combustion engine, given the increasing popularity of hybrids and electric vehicles in the performance market. The specifications are very meaty with a twin-turbo, 6.6-liter V8 motor dubbed “Fury”, putting out 1,817 horsepower (1,617 Newton meters) of torque and 1,193 pounds-feet (1.697 Newton-meters).
It can accelerate from 62 mph (100 km/h), to 124mph (200 km/h), in 4.7 seconds to 186mph (300 km/h), in 8.4 seconds to 248mph (400 km/h), and to 248mph (400 km/h), in 15.5 seconds. Then it can reach speeds of more than 311mph (500 km/h). This would make it the fastest street legal car, but the lack of homologation will cause many controversies. Since it was only in one-way, the Bugatti Chiron super Sport ran a 304-mph record.
The SSC Tuatara wants to be the all-American speed king. However, its attempts to do so have not been smooth. We are positive that Koenigsegg has something in the works for the Jesko’s upcoming Absolute version.
