Hennessey Venom F5 Shoots Flames, Unlocks F5 Mode During Test Run

Although the hypercar is extremely limited, it has already clocked over 250 mph and won’t stop there.

Hennessey has not finished testing and developing the Venom F5 yet, despite the debut of the Venom F5 over a year ago. The hypercar has been tested in a variety of high-speed stability tests by the Texas-based company. The Venom F5 reached speeds of 200 mph (322 km/h) in the aerodynamic validation test last year.

The Venom F5 continues high-speed testing at Florida’s Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds. Hennessey claims that the hypercar reached speeds of over 250 mph (402 km/h). Hennessey also claimed that the company would unlock the “F5 Mode”, which should unleash all the Venom F5’s power.

The attached video shows the Venom F5 in its F5 Mode. You can also see the hypercar igniting as it changes gears at the 0:40 mark – something we witnessed last week when it reached the dyno.

Hennessey Performance reminds people that it is not performing a top speed test. The company’s engineering team still uses this test to assess high-speed stability as well as vehicle dynamics. The theoretical top speed for the Venom F5 is 311 mph (500 km/h).

Venom F5’s engine is a twin-turbocharged, 6.6-liter V8. It produces 1,817 horsepower (1.354 kilowatts), and 1,193 pound feet (1.617 Newton-meters). It weighs in at 2,998 pounds (1,360 kilogram) and can reach speeds of 62 mph (100 km/h). Hennessey claims that it can run from zero to 124 mph at 200 kph in just 4.7 seconds.

Hennessey will produce only 24 units of the Venom F5, each at a cost of $2.1million.
