Here’s what a new Nissan Xterra might look like

Rumours abound that the Xterra will make a comeback.

From the 2000 model year, the Nissan Xterra was a tough SUV that used the frame of the Frontier pickup. It lasted two generations. The introduction of the Frontier might make it a good time to revive the model . These are the factors that could influence how a revived model looks if it is given the green light for production.

This rendering is done using the Frontier front end. The new Frontier has a more muscular, angular appearance than the old pickup. Further back, the roof is adorned with a prominent rack. This design does not have the two-tier top, which was a hallmark of the previous two Xterra generations. This image includes the angled, floating roof and C-pillar from the new Pathfinder.

The Nissan lineup has plenty of crossovers in America, including the Kicks and Rogue Sport, Rogue Sport, Rogue Murano, Pathfinder and Armada. The new Xterra will be body-on frame, while all other models except the Armada have a unibody chassis. This setup may be a selling point to some customers.

The resurrected Xterra could be positioned by Nissan as a rugged off-road vehicle. This would position the brand as a competitor to the Ford Bronco, and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.

Nissan’s Navara pickup was used to build the three-row X-Terra in the Middle East. The Frontier could be used to make the North American version of this car if it is built.
