The Civic Type R is viewed from all angles.
The latest teaser video of the new Honda Civic TypeR showcases the vehicle’s progress at the Suzuka Circuit, Japan. Although the model is on display at 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon there is no indication that the automaker will reveal anything about the highly-anticipated vehicle.
The video is intended to demonstrate how serious Honda takes the development of the new Civic Type R. The automaker shows the car running circuits on the track before returning to the garage for some repairs and new tires. The driver then returns to the track for further testing. It’s now night and the team is still hard at work.
The video does not show much about Civic Type R. However, there are many closeups of it. It continues to wear a camouflage pattern of red, black and white that includes silhouettes. Details include the Brembo brake calipers and the R logo in the middle of the grille.
Although we believe that the engine is still powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, its output is still unknown. It has 306 horsepower (228 kW) in the Civic Type R, but it is rumored that the new version has more power. There is speculation that the engine produces 400 horsepower (298 kW). However, this seems far too high to us.
The only option for a six-speed manual gearbox is, supposedly.
The current-gen Civic Type R can be seen in the background at several points throughout this video. The presence of the Civic Type R in the background suggests that the team is trying to make sure the new model is better around Suzuka.
It is unknown when the new Civic Type R will debut. A full debut is expected in the first half 2022.
