Honda CRX Revamped With Modern Twist in Unofficial Rendering

These cars are no longer made by automakers.

Many models have fallen on hard times due to changing consumer tastes. A model’s popularity can lead to a decrease in sales, regardless of how iconic or cool it is. The Honda CRX was one model that has disappeared and is unlikely to be replaced. The Honda del Sol replaced it in 1991. Rain Prisk’s unofficial rendering shows what the two-seater might look like today.

It looks as though the rendering was created from the CR-Z This was the closest Honda CRX imagining since the model was discontinued in 2016. It was made available from 2010 to 2016. Prisk added a few CRX-inspired touches to the rendering, which makes it stand out from its modern inspiration. This rendering features large rear passenger windows that give the car a sporty look and a nod to the CRX’s big glass slabs.
The car’s sloping hood is positioned over the aggressive front bumper. A red Honda badge marks the fact that this car is serious business. The car’s sleek exterior is enhanced by the thin-slit headlights that are placed at the edges of its front fascia. A sharp body crease runs along the side from the front fender vent to the door handle and then over the rear fender haunches. This adds some definition to the car’s styling.

It is unlikely that Honda will resurrect such a model any time soon. Two-seat, small-sized cars made by mainstream brands aren’t popular with today’s crossover-crazed customers. The rendering shows that a sleek, modern two-seat Honda could be a worthy tribute to the iconic CRX. It is small, affordable and fun to drive. Consumers today prefer utility and functionality to fun and personality.
