The boss of the dealer network says that they will sell anything customers request.
Some would argue that Honda’s SUV lineup is complete, having revived the Passport in 2019 to fit between the CR-V or Pilot. Dealers in North America disagree, arguing that there is a gap at the top of the sport utility vehicle line-up. Dealers would also love to sell sedans with all-wheel drive.
This is what William Feinstein, chairman of the Honda National Dealer Advisory Board, said.
Automotive News This week, the National Automobile Dealers Association show (NADA). He believes Honda needs an SUV that is larger than the Pilot. The current third-generation Pilot measures 194.5 inches (4.94m) in length and 78.6ins (1.99m) in width.
Feinstein believes there’s a demand for a larger three-row SUV. This would presumably have a longer wheelbase that the Pilot’s (111 inches/2.81 meters). Although the Pilot offers a third row of seats, many would argue that it is too cramped for small children and adults. A larger SUV would solve this problem and provide more cargo space.
In an interview with Automotive News, Honda’s dealer network chief also said that he would like to be able sell AWD sedans. He added that it would make most sense in the Northeastern and Midwest regions. It shouldn’t be difficult, he said, as more automakers embrace electrification. A Honda sedan with all-paws would be a cheaper alternative to the expensive TLX or RLX models offered by Acura luxury brand.
Acura dealers want more SUVs to offer customers. John Connelley, Acura Dealer National Advisory Board representative, stated to Automotive News that they would like a smaller SUV positioned beneath the RDX as well as a larger one that would fit above the MDX.
