Honda SUV E:Prototype Concept for Honda SUV in China Previewing Future Electric Vehicles

It is covered with many LED strips by the designers.

Auto Shanghai is the first public appearance of the Honda SUV E:Prototype, which will be used as a preview for an electric crossover. In spring 2022, the production version will go on sale for Chinese customers.

Although the general shape of the hood is similar to the next-gen HRV,, the designers have added lots of lights. The hood has small headlamps at the corners. LED strips run along the edges of the hood, but do not meet in the middle. Also, the Honda ‘H” logo is illuminated. Additional LEDs are located in the lower fascia, along the sides of intake.

Except for a slight crease at the shoulder, the sides of the concept remain largely unadorned. The body’s lower edge has a thin strip.

Rear has an angled C pillar and full-width taillights. The design is simple but elegant.

Although the company has not provided any images of the E:Prototype’s interior, it states that it uses third-generation Honda Connect software which supports over-the air updates.

Honda doesn’t give any details about the powertrain. Honda simply states that there is a lot of “feel the joy of driving”.

In the next five years, Honda will produce 10 electric vehicles in China. It is not known if any of them will be available for the US market.

Honda will also unveil a plug-in version its Breeze crossover at Auto Shanghai. The powertrain is made up of a two-motor electric component. China will be selling the vehicle in the second half 2021.

Honda announced in 2020 a partnership with General Motors . The two companies will use the Ultium batteries and modular electric car platform from General Motors for two models. Honda has designed the architecture of these vehicles to meet the needs of the consumers, and they won’t be rebadged GM models. The vehicles will be manufactured by GM.
